About me
Janette Rivera Gonzalez is Elementary Biliteracy and English Language Development Coordinator at St. Vrain Valley Schools. She previously taught at Northridge Elementary School, where she was named St. Vrain Teacher of the Year in 2020. She moved here from Mexico at 15, attending Lyons Middle/Senior and then graduating from Longmont High. She became a teacher’s aide in St. Vrain Valley, then earned her teaching degree — and later a master’s degree — from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her experience as a multilingual learner inspired her to become a Biliteracy teacher. She has a deep understanding of the challenges newcomers must overcome in order to find success. As a leader, her motto and focus are to empower teachers with different strategies and methods to work with English learners and to continue inspiring multilingual learners- Sí se puede!
